Lacey Estates is a family-owned winery and vineyard located in Hillier, ON, open year-round, run by Liz Lacey and her husband Kimball.
As Operations Manager, Liz takes care of all that is to do with the front of the house, sales, and sending off products to LCBOs while Kimball is the Winemaker. They also get occasional help from their two daughters, Emily and Charlotte.
Their story started in 1982 when they bought the 60-acre farm and really took off in 1990 when Kimball and his father Charles attended a grape and wine seminar. The two of them came home and told the family they knew what they should be doing. In 2003 they had planted all their vines by hand, without the use of machinery, and in 2007 they were able to harvest them for the first time. They opened their shop in 2009.
Some of their newer products include a sparkling rose for the holiday season, a rose and a Dorland red blend. They also have a quarterly wine club available for anyone to join. It includes two to three bottles of their newly released wines, locally sourced food and wine products along with a recipe. You can also pre-order your Christmas wine box to send to family and friends. They ship out their boxes early December. They also have some non-alcoholic options and offer small batches of premium wines for their repeat customers. They ship all over Ontario and can be found in the LCBO in Ottawa and on their online shop.
For more information on their products make sure to check out their website page, and for information on events they will be participating in this season take a look at their Facebook and Instagram pages.
